Sneha Gharami, a first-year BA student at CT University in Ludhiana, set a new national record in the squat event of powerlifting with an impressive lift of 222.5 kilograms, securing the gold medal. Competing in the 76 kg category, she dominated the National Women’s Junior Power Lifting Championship held from June 23 to 28 in Hyderabad, Telangana, and walked away with three gold medals and one silver.
Record-Breaking Performance
Gharami's outstanding performance included a gold medal in the squat event with a national record lift of 222.5 kg. She also claimed gold in the deadlift event with a lift of 187.5 kg and secured a silver medal in the bench press with a lift of 120 kg. Her aggregate lift of 530 kg earned her the overall gold medal in the championship.
According to CT University pro-chancellor Manbir Singh, Gharami's record-breaking feat brought immense pride to the institution. "Her dedication and hard work have made her a source of inspiration for aspiring sportspersons," Singh said.

The university management, faculty members, and fellow students congratulated Gharami on her outstanding achievement and wished her continued success. Her coach, Jayanta Bhattacharjee, was also present in Hyderabad to support her during the championship.
