Miami Dolphins Eye Trade for 49ers' Star Brandon Aiyuk After Playoff Miss
Miami Dolphins Eye Trade for 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk

The Miami Dolphins have endured a challenging period on the field, failing to qualify for the playoffs for the second straight year. With a record of 7 wins and 10 losses last season, attention now turns to how the team plans to rebound in the upcoming campaign.

Dolphins Linked to Brandon Aiyuk

According to a recent prediction by Bleacher Report's Julia Stumbaugh, the Miami Dolphins could potentially make a move for San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Stumbaugh noted that Aiyuk could slot in as a WR1 for the Dolphins, who have three wide receivers with relatively limited recent production: Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell. She added that the Dolphins might be looking to add a more experienced option for quarterback Malik Willis ahead of his first full campaign as a starter.

As of now, the Dolphins have not responded to the trade rumors concerning Aiyuk.

49ers Open to Trade Talks

Brandon Aiyuk remains with the San Francisco 49ers even after the NFL Draft. The team's general manager, John Lynch, has stated that they are open to exploring trade options. According to NFL.com, Lynch said, "We're available. Give us a call…" He added, "He's an extremely talented player. He's been an extremely effective player in our league — situation didn't work itself out here." Lynch continued, "That's not to say that it can't be rekindled somewhere else. And we'd be happy to do something with anyone if the opportunity presented itself."

Aiyuk's Injury Struggles

Over the past few seasons, Brandon Aiyuk has dealt with significant injuries. Just days after signing a $120 million extension with the 49ers in 2024, he tore his ACL and MCL in a game against the Chiefs, ruling him out for the remainder of the season. He finished the 2024 season with 25 receptions for 374 yards in seven games and starts. Despite progress reports and hints from Lynch about his recovery, Aiyuk was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on July 18, 2025.

With the last two seasons proving brutal for Aiyuk, all eyes are on where he will end up next season.
