Amritsar Central Assembly segment MLA Dr Ajay Gupta inaugurated the construction of a mini cricket ground on a vacant plot adjacent to Janana Hospital at Dhaba Khatika on Monday. The project, valued at approximately Rs 45 lakh, includes an Astro turf, 20-foot-high nets, and full floodlighting to enable night practice. A gym will also be built alongside the ground.
Part of Punjab's Anti-Drug War
Dr Gupta stated that the government is developing playgrounds for the youth of Punjab as part of its war against drugs. The mini ground is expected to become a centre of attraction for residents of Dhaba Khatika and surrounding areas. He noted that the vacant land had previously gone unnoticed until he brought it to attention, leading to a tender for the turf mini-ground.
Additional Infrastructure Work
In a series of developments, Dr Gupta also inaugurated the construction of Gali Suniarian and its surrounding streets in Ward No. 55. The sewerage system in that street will be repaired and the street paved with concrete. He said he visits people daily, listens to their problems, and resolves them on a priority basis.
Government Welfare Schemes Highlighted
Dr Gupta emphasised that the benefits of Punjab Government’s public welfare schemes are being extended to the people. Under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, pilgrims are being sent on holy pilgrimage routes. He described the scheme as a commendable initiative to facilitate pilgrimage to religious places. Additionally, ration kits are being distributed to needy families through the 'Chief Minister Meri Rasoi' scheme.
The MLA reiterated that development work in the Central Assembly constituency is continuous and focused on people's convenience.
