Former Cricket Captain MS Dhoni Penalized for Traffic Offense in Ranchi
Ranchi traffic police have imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for a speeding violation in the city. The incident occurred on March 1, when an SUV registered under Dhoni's name was found exceeding the speed limit on a key road.
Details of the Speeding Incident
The vehicle was reportedly traveling at 91 kilometers per hour on the road connecting Kanke Ring Road and Birsa Agricultural University. This significantly surpassed the designated speed limit of 60 kmph for that stretch. The violation was recorded at approximately 11:40 am.
Authorities confirmed the development, with Ranchi District Transport Officer (DTO) Akhilesh Kumar stating that the traffic department handled the fine. "The details of the offence can only be provided by the traffic department as they fined him," Kumar remarked. Efforts to reach Ranchi Traffic Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh for further comment were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls.
Official Response and Broader Context
This incident highlights the enforcement of traffic rules by local police, even involving high-profile individuals like Dhoni, who is a celebrated figure in Indian cricket. The fine underscores the importance of adhering to speed regulations for road safety.
While the news has garnered attention, it is separate from unrelated international reports, such as those involving naval conflicts. The focus remains on Dhoni's traffic violation as a local law enforcement matter in Ranchi.
