Patiala registered a convincing 82-run victory over hosts Ludhiana in the second Group D match of the Punjab State Inter-District Senior Women's One Day Limited Overs Cricket Tournament on Sunday. The match was played at the GRD Academy ground on Hambran Road in Ludhiana.
Patiala's Batting Performance
After being asked to bat first, Patalia posted a competitive total of 227 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was anchored by Vanshika Mahajan, who played a well-crafted knock of 78 runs off 127 deliveries, including ten boundaries and one six. She received valuable support from Priya Kumari, who contributed 65 runs with nine fours. Anjali provided the late impetus with a brisk 41 runs off just 32 balls.
For Ludhiana, Parineeta Saroha was the most successful bowler, claiming three wickets for 32 runs. Samriddhi Saini took two wickets for 46 runs, while Moli Gosal also picked up two wickets, conceding 62 runs in her spell.
Ludhiana's Chase Falls Short
Chasing a target of 228, Ludhiana struggled to keep up with the required run rate and could only manage 149 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted overs. Divya Rajput fought hard and top-scored with 46 runs, but none of the other batters could convert their starts into substantial scores.
Patiala's bowlers shared the spoils, with Shruti delivering an impressive spell of three wickets for 19 runs in ten overs. Disha Rani chipped in with two wickets for ten runs, while all-rounder Priya Kumari returned figures of two for 37. Mannat Kashyap claimed one wicket for 13 runs in her ten overs.
