Shaun Tait Quits as Bangladesh Pace Bowling Coach, Cites Reasons
Shaun Tait Quits Bangladesh Pace Coach Role

Shaun Tait, the former Australian fast bowler, has stepped down from his role as the pace bowling coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. The 43-year-old announced his resignation on Tuesday, citing personal reasons and a need to prioritize family time.

Reasons Behind the Decision

Tait, who took over the position in March 2023, revealed that the demanding travel schedule and time away from his family in Australia were the primary factors behind his decision. "It has been a tough call, but family comes first," Tait said in a statement. "I have enjoyed my time with the Bangladesh team, but the constant traveling has taken a toll, and I need to be at home."

Impact on Bangladesh Cricket

Tait's departure comes at a crucial time for Bangladesh, as they prepare for a busy international calendar, including the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed regret over his resignation but respected his decision. BCB president Nazmul Hassan said, "Shaun has done a commendable job with our pacers, and we understand his situation. We will now look for a suitable replacement."

Under Tait's guidance, Bangladesh's pace attack showed notable improvement, with bowlers like Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman delivering consistent performances. His experience and expertise were highly valued by the team.

Shaun Tait's Cricketing Journey

Known for his raw pace, Tait played 35 ODIs and 12 T20Is for Australia between 2007 and 2016. He also featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for franchises like Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Post-retirement, he transitioned into coaching, working with various teams before joining Bangladesh.

The BCB is expected to announce an interim coach soon while searching for a long-term replacement. Tait's resignation adds to the recent changes in Bangladesh's coaching staff, with the team also seeking a new head coach after the departure of Russell Domingo earlier this year.
