Sleeper Bus Collides with Trailer on Expressway, 23 Injured

A serious road accident occurred early Sunday on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district, leaving 23 passengers injured, seven of them critically. The incident took place near Raghurampur village in the Bangarmau area when a sleeper bus, reportedly traveling at over 100 km per hour, collided with a moving trailer.

Details of the Accident

The accident happened around 6 am while the bus was en route from Delhi to Azamgarh. According to initial reports, the driver allegedly dozed off, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into the truck ahead. The impact was so severe that the front section of the bus was extensively damaged, trapping several passengers inside.

Rescue Operations

Upon receiving information, Kotwali in-charge Akhilesh Chandra Pandey reached the spot along with police personnel. Rescue and relief operations were carried out with the assistance of UPIDA workers. Passengers trapped inside the bus were pulled out and rushed to the Community Health Centre in Bangarmau. Due to the severity of their injuries, thirteen passengers have been referred to the district hospital for further treatment.

Traffic Disruption and Clearance

Traffic on the expressway was temporarily disrupted after the accident. Police, along with UPEIDA workers, later cleared the damaged bus and truck from the site to restore normal traffic movement. Authorities are investigating the incident further.
