Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially announced the squads for the upcoming multi-format home series against the West Indies, which is scheduled to commence next month. The series will feature two Test matches, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
Kusal Mendis Appointed White-Ball Captain
In a significant move, the selection committee has appointed Kusal Mendis as the captain for the limited-overs formats. Mendis, who has been a consistent performer in the middle order, will lead the ODI and T20I sides. This decision comes as Sri Lanka looks to build a young and dynamic squad for the future. Mendis expressed his gratitude and excitement for the new role, stating that he is ready to take on the responsibility and lead the team with determination.
The Test team will continue to be led by Dinesh Chandimal, who has been at the helm of the red-ball side for the past year. Chandimal's experience and tactical acumen will be crucial in the longer format of the game.
