The Gujarat Titans' opening duo of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have been in scintillating form this Indian Premier League season. The pair is now just 54 runs away from surpassing the record for the most runs scored by a batting partnership in a single IPL campaign.
Current Standings
Sudharsan and Gill have accumulated 1,029 runs together so far this season, placing them second on the all-time list. The record is held by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, who amassed 1,082 runs in the 2016 season. With the Titans having at least one match remaining, the record is well within reach.
Consistent Performances
The left-right combination has provided stability at the top of the order for Gujarat. Sudharsan, the young left-hander, has scored 527 runs at an average of 47.90, while Gill, the captain, has amassed 502 runs at 45.63. Their complementary styles have troubled bowlers throughout the tournament.
If the pair manages to add 54 runs in their next innings, they will etch their names in IPL history. The Titans will be hoping the duo can carry their form into the playoffs, should they qualify.
