Traffic Advisory for T20 World Cup Final in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad Police Announces Traffic Restrictions for ICC T20 World Cup Final

The city of Ahmedabad is gearing up for the highly anticipated ICC Men's T20 World Cup final match between India and New Zealand, scheduled for Sunday, March 8. The clash will take place at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, which is recognized as the world's largest cricket arena with a seating capacity exceeding 130,000 spectators.

Traffic Advisory and Road Closures

To manage the expected influx of thousands of cricket fans and ensure public safety, the Ahmedabad Police has implemented temporary traffic restrictions. In a social media post on platform X, the police department issued an advisory stating that traffic on specific roads around the stadium will be either restricted or diverted during the final match.

The notification from Police Commissioner GS Malik specifies that the following roads will be closed to regular traffic:

  • Janpath T-junction to the stadium's main gate
  • Krupa Residency T-junction to Motera Gam T-junction

Timing of Restrictions

The traffic controls will be in effect from approximately 10 AM on March 8 until midnight. Some measures may extend into the early hours of March 9 to accommodate post-match activities and crowd dispersal.

Alternate Routes for Commuters

For motorists traveling from Tapovan and adjacent areas, authorities recommend using the following alternate route:

  1. Tapovan Circle
  2. ONGC Crossroads
  3. Visat T-junction
  4. Janpath T-junction
  5. Powerhouse Crossroads
  6. Prabodh Raval Circle

Those approaching from Krupa T-junction should utilize routes via Sharan Status Crossroads and Bhat-Koteshwar Road toward Apollo Circle to avoid congestion.

Exempted Vehicles and Additional Measures

Certain emergency and official vehicles will be exempt from these restrictions, including:

  • Ambulances
  • Fire brigade vehicles
  • Police vehicles

Access to the affected roads will be strictly limited, with additional traffic personnel deployed around the stadium perimeter. Authorities have strongly urged commuters and cricket enthusiasts to plan their travel arrangements in advance to minimize disruptions.

The police advisory emphasizes that these measures are necessary to handle the heavy movement of spectators and VIPs expected at the venue. The Narendra Modi Stadium is preparing to host what promises to be a historic cricket final, with security and traffic management being top priorities for local law enforcement.
