Vadodara: Two promising cricketers from Vadodara have earned spots in the India Women Under-19 teams for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka in Chennai and Puducherry this month. Vidhi Parmar has been selected for the one-day squad, while Maitri Maniar will represent the T20 team.
Vidhi Parmar's Journey
Expressing her joy, Parmar said, "I am happy to have been selected in the Indian team." The 17-year-old left-arm spinner and right-handed batter, who plays in the middle order, started playing cricket at the age of 11. She has played for Under-15, Under-19, and Under-23 teams in both T20 and one-day formats in Baroda and has attended a high-performance camp at the National Cricket Academy.
Maitri Maniar's Ambition
Maniar, a 16-year-old all-rounder, stated that she will give her best performance in the T20 tournament against Sri Lanka. "I wanted to join sports and hence began playing cricket at the age of seven in Navsari," she said. Both players, who represent the Baroda team, credited their coaches Bobby Badola and Hina Patel for mentoring them well for this important series.
Maniar has previously captained the Under-15 BCA team and has also played for Under-19 and Under-19 Baroda teams. She has also attended the high-performance camp at the NCA.
