Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old batting prodigy, has set the cricketing world ablaze with his record-breaking performances. Questions about his potential India debut, especially for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, dominate discussions.
Record-Breaking Feats
Sooryavanshi played a pivotal role in India's Under-19 World Cup triumph, smashing a record 175 off 80 balls to secure a sixth title. He carried that form into IPL 2026, amassing 776 runs in 16 matches at a staggering strike rate of 237.31, including a tournament-record 72 sixes.
Fearless Against Top Bowlers
The youngster earned widespread praise for his fearless batting against elite bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, and Pat Cummins.
Growing Calls for Senior Selection
His exploits have fueled demands for his inclusion in the senior squad for the two T20Is against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia praised Sooryavanshi, stating, "Vaibhav is a new wonder kid in Indian cricket. All selectors are watching these matches closely. In upcoming selection meetings for the UK trip, they will do what is necessary."
Future Tours
Following the Ireland series, India will tour England for five T20Is and three ODIs.
Saikia added, "Many players performed well, but Vaibhav is exceptional. A new wonder kid has been presented to Indian cricket."
