Teen Prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi Continues Doha Blitz

Indian cricket's newest sensation, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, delivered another explosive performance, scoring 45 runs from just 28 deliveries against Pakistan A in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. The match took place on Sunday at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, just days after the teenager from Bihar set the tournament alight with a record-shattering century.

Aggressive Innings and a Sudden Collapse

True to his attacking brand of cricket, Vaibhav began his innings with immediate intent, hitting a boundary off Ubaid Shah. During his blistering knock, he struck five fours and three sixes, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a rapid pace. However, his innings was cut short in the 10th over when he was caught by Mohammad Faiq off the bowling of Sufiyan Muqeem.

His dismissal triggered a dramatic middle-order collapse for India A. From a relatively stable position of 91 for 2, the team crumbled under pressure from the Pakistan Shaheens, slumping to 104 for 6 by the 15th over.

Building on a Historic Century

This fiery knock against the arch-rivals came on the back of a truly extraordinary innings. On Friday, November 14, 2025, Vaibhav announced his arrival on the big stage by smashing a 32-ball century against the UAE in India A's opening game. In that incredible innings of 142 runs, a staggering 93.05% of his runs (134 of 144) came from boundaries, a rate of scoring that has been surpassed by only three other batters in T20 history.

This achievement made him the only player ever to score two T20 centuries in 35 balls or fewer. He had previously scored a 35-ball hundred for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

2025 has been a landmark year for the young cricketer:

  • He made his Indian Premier League debut.
  • He hit the second-fastest century in the IPL's history.
  • He became the youngest centurion in the league.
  • He impressed on away tours to Australia and England.
  • He was fast-tracked into the India A side.

Furthermore, he has already made waves in the youth circuit, scoring the fastest ever Youth ODI century off just 52 balls for India U19 against England U19. In September, he also broke the all-time record for the most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket, surpassing the previous record held by Unmukt Chand.
