JAGDALPUR: A tragic road accident occurred early Monday morning on National Highway-30 in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district, claiming the life of a woman and injuring over 20 passengers. The private bus, en route from Raipur to Sukma, overturned within the limits of Bastar police station.
Details of the Accident
The bus was carrying more than 35 passengers at the time of the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn on the highway. Most passengers were asleep when the accident happened, according to officials.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Padmani Chandravanshi, a resident of Kawardha. She was working as a teacher in the Dornapal area of Sukma district and died on the spot due to the impact of the overturn.
Rescue and Medical Response
Local residents, along with police personnel, quickly responded to the scene and carried out rescue operations. They helped pull out passengers who were trapped inside the overturned bus. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Medical staff are attending to the injured, and their conditions are being monitored.
