Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag expressed his disappointment over the team's fielding performance after they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Thursday. Parag admitted that dropping catches cost them dearly.
Match Summary
SRH posted a challenging total of 201 for 3 in 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant knock from Travis Head (80 off 42) and a quickfire 37 off 16 from Nitish Kumar Reddy. In response, RR managed 200 for 7, falling short by just one run. Sanju Samson top-scored with 66 off 41 balls, but it wasn't enough to take the team home.
Captain's Reaction
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Parag said, "We dropped a few too many catches. In a close game like this, those chances cost us. We need to improve our fielding." He also praised the opposition's batting, especially Head's innings.
Parag highlighted that the team fought well but the dropped catches proved decisive. "We were in the game till the end, but those missed opportunities hurt us. We will work on our catching in the nets," he added.
Fielding Woes
RR dropped three catches during SRH's innings, including a sitter from Head early in his innings. The hosts also missed a run-out opportunity. These lapses allowed SRH to post a competitive total.
The loss leaves RR in the middle of the points table. They will need to address their fielding issues ahead of their next match to keep their playoff hopes alive.
