14-Year-Old Wrestler Dies by Suicide in Rohtak

A 14-year-old junior wrestler allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his father's licensed revolver in Rohtak, the police said on Tuesday. As per the police, the deceased was a Class VIII student and had been undergoing training and participating in wrestling competitions.

Incident Details

The incident took place at the family's residence, and the body was found in a store room. The police said the incident occurred on Monday evening. "Family members said they rushed to the spot after hearing a gunshot and found the boy lying in a pool of blood with a bullet injury on his head," a police officer said. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Investigation Underway

IMT police station in-charge Ashwani Kumar said that in the preliminary investigation, it appears to be a case of suicide. "Statements of family members have been recorded, and the body has been handed over to the family after postmortem," the police officer added. He noted that the revolver belonged to the victim's father and was licensed. A forensic team visited the spot and collected evidence. According to the police, the exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered under the relevant sections, and further investigation is underway.
