Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra Embraces New Chapter in Life
Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has broken his silence about his married life for the first time since tying the knot with former national-level tennis player Himani Mor earlier this year. The celebrated javelin thrower revealed how this new phase has brought stability and support to his demanding athletic career.
The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony on January 16, 2024, marking the beginning of what Neeraj describes as "a great new chapter" in his life. Recently spotted together in Zurich, Switzerland, the newlyweds have been balancing training commitments with quality time exploring the picturesque Swiss landscape.
Marriage Brings Balance and Focus
When asked if their Zurich trip constituted their first honeymoon, Neeraj responded with characteristic modesty, indicating they had traveled together during his training periods. The athlete emphasized the positive impact marriage has had on his professional life, stating that having the right partner provides crucial emotional support.
"Marriage has been a great new chapter in my life, and I'm thankful for all the support and balance she brings," Neeraj shared. "We like to keep our personal lives private, but having the right partner, along with her constant support, encouragement and understanding, is truly a blessing. It helps me stay focused and motivated on the field."
The athlete confirmed that his primary focus remains firmly on training, recovery, and preparing for the upcoming season, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to athletic excellence despite personal milestones.
Swiss Training and Culinary Adventures
While Zurich didn't serve as their wedding destination, the Swiss city has become significant in their relationship story. Neeraj has been using Switzerland as a training base, and the couple has been gently exploring the surroundings together during his off-time.
"I have done my training and explored a lot of areas here," Neeraj revealed. "I have done skydiving and paragliding. The weather in Zürich is very beautiful."
The athlete also shared his culinary experiences, showcasing a balanced approach to nutrition that allows for occasional indulgences. "The Swiss cheese is something I recommend everyone… There's raclette cheese which is melted, and fondue is also delicious. I love Swiss chocolates despite being an athlete," he confessed.
Pragmatic Approach to Fame and Future
Known for his grounded personality, Neeraj remains practical about celebrity status and endorsement opportunities. He adopts a selective approach to commercial collaborations while encouraging younger athletes to think beyond their sporting careers.
"You cannot just rely on sports; you also need to explore other avenues because sports can be unpredictable," he advised. "What if you are preparing for Olympics but you fall ill a week before the event? So, you need to have these things."
The javelin star revealed that he has received acting offers but firmly declined them, recognizing where his true strengths lie. "Yes... but it was not difficult to say to them. I am not an actor. I know it is not my right place. Just because people know me doesn't mean that I should start doing films," he stated emphatically.
Neeraj added, "My strength is on the field, when I am throwing a javelin. Maybe once we retire, we can explore other things, but for now, my focus is completely on my performance."
His disciplined approach extends to diet as well, where he maintains flexibility within boundaries. "I love sweets and chocolates, and I don't completely restrict myself. I just keep balance in mind. When I am training, I am mindful, but since it is off season now, I do end up devouring, however, keeping balance in mind," he concluded.
