Mysuru (Karnataka), June 11: Riya Jadon, who turned professional this season, delivered an impressive performance on the opening day of the 7th Leg of the Women's Pro Golf Tour at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club. The 17-year-old golfer from Gurugram carded a 3-under 67 to take the pole position, finishing the first day with two birdies on the last two holes.
Riya's Round
Riya, who trains at the DLF Golf Academy, started the day with a birdie before a bogey on the sixth and another birdie on the seventh to turn in 1-under. On the back nine, she parred the first seven holes and closed with consecutive birdies to secure the lead. She is one stroke ahead of experienced Tvesa Malik, who carded a 68.
Other Contenders
Anvvi Dahhiya and Vidhatri Urs were the only other golfers under par, both shooting 69 each on the Par-70 layout. Amandeep Drall and Karishma Govind shot even par 70 each, tying for fifth place.
Tvesa Malik opened with a birdie but suffered back-to-back bogeys on the fourth and fifth holes to go one-over. She recovered with three birdies on the back nine for a 68. Anvvi Dahhiya and Vidhatri Urs each had three birdies against two bogeys.
Neha Tripathi, Ananya Garg, Durga Nittur, and amateur Ananyaa Sood were tied for seventh at 71 each. Vani Kapoor (72) was tied for 11th, while amateurs Zara Anand and Seher Atwal shot 73 each. Mannat Brar (76) was tied for 30th.
Three-time winner this season, Ridhima Dilawari, had a disappointing start with a 77, which included three bogeys and two double bogeys.
