Reis Da Silva's announcement came shortly after Swiss rising star Mika Brunold also came out publicly. Brunold used a detailed Instagram post in late 2024 to share his personal journey.

"Those experiences shaped me and made me proud of who I am today," Brunold wrote. He explained he spoke out not just for himself but because sexuality remains rarely discussed in sports.
