A tragic incident occurred in Jagatsinghpur district on Friday when a 27-year-old man drowned while fishing in the Devi river. The victim, identified as Sangram Parida, a resident of Sukinda village, had gone fishing with three friends near Sukida village under the Balikuda police station limits.

Incident Details

According to reports, Parida slipped into a deep stretch of the river and was swept away by the strong current. His friends immediately raised an alarm, prompting locals to rush to the spot. While three of the group were rescued by villagers, Parida could not be saved.

Rescue Efforts

Local residents quickly responded to the cries for help and managed to pull the other three fishermen to safety. However, the strong currents made it difficult to reach Parida in time. His body was later recovered from the river.
