SGGS College, Sector 18 academy to clash for women’s title

SGGS College, Sector 26 women's team will face Chandigarh Hockey Academy, Sector 18 in the final of the Chandigarh State Senior Hockey Championship after both teams won their respective semifinals at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium.

SGGS College edges past KISCOE

In the first semifinal, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 defeated KISCOE, Sector 42 with a score of 3-2. Manpreet gave the Sector 26 team an early lead by converting a penalty corner in the fourth minute. Gurmail doubled the advantage in the 15th minute. KISCOE fought back in the 36th minute when Mahima scored their first goal. However, Manpreet struck again in the 38th minute, converting another penalty corner to restore the two-goal lead. Mahima scored her second goal for KISCOE in the 50th minute, but SGGS College held on to secure the victory.

Chandigarh Hockey Academy wins on penalties

The second semifinal between Chandigarh Hockey Academy, Sector 18 and Wanderers Club ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time. Ratanjeet scored for the academy in the 8th minute, while Alka equalized for Wanderers in the 40th minute. In the ensuing penalty shootout, the academy emerged victorious to book their place in the final.

Men's final: Wanderers Club to face ITBP

In the men's category, Wanderers Club reached the final by defeating SGGS Hockey Club (Blue), Sector 26 with a 3-1 scoreline. Boby opened the scoring for Wanderers in the 10th minute, and Paramvir doubled the lead in the 38th minute. SGGS Hockey Club pulled one back in the 58th minute through Pankaj, but Paramvir scored his second goal in the dying minutes to seal the win.

In the other men's semifinal, ITBP defeated AG Haryana in a penalty shootout after the match ended 2-2. AG Haryana took a 2-0 lead with goals from Gobind (8th minute) and Ankit (16th minute). ITBP fought back with goals from Shubham (39th minute) and Vijay (42nd minute) to force the shootout, which ITBP won.
