Terry Bradshaw has spent more than three decades as one of the faces of FOX NFL Sunday. Now, at 77, the Hall of Fame quarterback has offered his clearest update yet on what comes next.
During an appearance on Sports Business Radio with host Brian Berger, Terry Bradshaw made it clear that retirement is not part of his plans. However, he also acknowledged that his future with FOX may not be entirely in his hands. Terry Bradshaw signals he is not ready to walk away from broadcasting amid FOX uncertainty. Questions about Terry Bradshaw's future have followed him for years, but his latest comments gave fans a better picture of where he stands.
During the Sports Business Radio interview, Bradshaw admitted that FOX could ultimately decide when his run on FOX NFL Sunday ends.
“I may not be with FOX. That would be their call, not mine. But I'll still be speaking. Billy Graham said that the day that you retire is the day you start dying. And I do believe a lot of people, when they stop using their brain and keep their thought processes moving and advancing, for whatever reason, I do believe you age, and people end up dying. I mean, people die within a year after retirement. So, I don't wanna do that. I see myself staying fully active right up to the end,” Bradshaw told Brian Berger on Sports Business Radio.
He continued: “I can't do that. My wife and I, we've been home now going on two weeks and we're going crazy. We're not used to being still. We were driving around yesterday, coming in from town. And I said, ‘Gee, we've got two weeks at home!’ We are never still.” That statement quickly grabbed attention because Bradshaw did not sound like someone preparing for retirement. In fact, he explained why stepping away from work does not appeal to him.
During the same interview, Bradshaw referenced late evangelist Billy Graham while discussing retirement. He said many people lose purpose after they stop working and added that he wants to remain mentally active for as long as possible.
The comments fit a pattern. Back in 2023, Bradshaw joked about dying on the set of FOX NFL Sunday. Then in 2025, fellow host Curt Menefee joked that Bradshaw would leave the show only in a hearse. While those remarks came with laughter, they reflected Bradshaw's long-standing belief that he wants to keep working.
Still, the conversation around his future has grown louder. Several on-air mistakes over the past two seasons have sparked debate among viewers. During FOX's conference championship coverage earlier this year, Bradshaw appeared to mix up game discussions. He also incorrectly suggested that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love would welcome the absence of Micah Parsons, even though Parsons plays for Green Bay.
Those moments fueled questions about whether FOX could eventually move in a different direction. Yet Bradshaw's latest remarks suggest he has no interest in slowing down.
He reinforced that point when discussing life away from television. Bradshaw said he and his wife recently spent two weeks at home and quickly grew restless. For someone who helped build the modern NFL pregame show and has covered ten Super Bowls, staying busy remains part of the plan.
Whether FOX keeps him on air or not, Bradshaw made one thing clear. He still sees a future in front of a microphone.
