Durga Stalin Visits Nimishamba Temple in Mandya

Durga Stalin, the wife of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, visited the Nimishamba Temple at Ganjam near Srirangapatna in Mandya district on Monday. She offered special prayers to the presiding deity, Goddess Nimishamba, as part of her spiritual visit to the region.

Accompanied by family members, Durga Stalin was warmly welcomed at the temple by local dignitaries and officials. During her visit, she was joined by the daughter and son-in-law of senior Karnataka leader and JD(S) MLA GT Devegowda, highlighting the cross-border familial and political ties.

Traditional Rituals Performed

As part of the religious ceremonies, Durga Stalin performed the traditional ‘Udi Seve’, an offering that includes a silk saree, glass bangles, flowers, and fruits to Goddess Nimishamba. Temple officials stated that special prayers and archana were conducted in the names of MK Stalin and his son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, seeking the deity’s blessings for their well-being and prosperity.

Durga actively participated in various religious rituals and spent approximately 30 minutes at the temple premises. Devotees and visitors present at the shrine witnessed her devotional activities, while security arrangements were meticulously put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme.

The Nimishamba Temple, situated on the banks of the River Cauvery, is a prominent pilgrimage centre in Karnataka. It attracts thousands of devotees throughout the year, who come to seek the goddess’s blessings. After completing the rituals, Durga received ‘prasada’ from the temple priests, marking the conclusion of her spiritual visit.

Visit to Chamundeshwari Temple

Following her visit to Nimishamba Temple, Durga Stalin also travelled to Mysuru to offer prayers at the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, located atop the Chamundi Hills. This visit underscores her deep religious devotion and her connection to the region’s cultural heritage.
