WWE Star Curtis Axel Arrested on DWI Charges After Crash

The world of professional wrestling is no stranger to controversy, and a recent incident involving Curtis Axel, the son of WWE legend Mr. Perfect (Curt Hennig), has once again brought legal troubles to the forefront. Axel, a former WWE superstar, was arrested on charges related to driving while intoxicated (DWI) and an accident.

Why Was Curtis Axel Arrested?

According to public records, Curtis Axel was arrested in Anoka County, Minnesota, on May 17. The incident occurred when he allegedly backed his vehicle into another car at a McDonald's drive-thru in St. Francis. Upon arrival, police officers reported that Axel smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. He also refused to submit to a chemical test. Authorities found an open bottle of vodka in his vehicle, and he was charged with improper conduct.

The official report detailed that Axel was physically removed from his car after refusing to comply with officers' commands. The report stated: “Officers subsequently opened the door, reached inside to turn off the engine, and placed the keys on the passenger seat. After continued defiance, officers physically removed Hennig from the truck, escorted him to the ground, and handcuffed him. While seated in the squad car, an officer read him the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory. Hennig allegedly refused chemical testing and responded with profanities, including, ‘I don’t give a s***,’ and ‘f*** you, you f*****.’”

Additionally, Axel reportedly used abusive language toward an employee at the McDonald's outlet and the female driver of the car he hit. Despite the serious nature of the charges, the former WWE superstar was released from jail two days later.

Curtis Axel's WWE Career

Curtis Axel debuted in WWE in the early 2010s as part of the reality show format of WWE NXT. He later joined the main roster as a member of The Nexus and embarked on a singles run. Axel was paired with legendary manager Paul Heyman, which led to a reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion. However, his promising push was short-lived, and he transitioned to other storylines, including a stint as part of The Miz's faction, Miztourage.

Axel was released by WWE in 2020 but returned briefly in 2022 as a WWE producer. With his recent arrest making headlines, the future of the 44-year-old remains uncertain.
