Aarogya Setu app gets Google AI for health records

The Indian government's Aarogya Setu health application has undergone a significant upgrade, incorporating Google's Gemma 4 artificial intelligence model and an open-source Medical Data Toolkit. This integration aims to digitize and streamline health record management for users across the country.

AI-Powered Health Record Extraction

The revamped app leverages Google's Gemma 4 AI to intelligently extract and summarize health information from both text and image sources. The Medical Data Toolkit further enhances this capability, allowing users to efficiently manage their medical documents. This feature simplifies the process of converting physical or scanned health records into structured digital data.

Digital Storage and Family Health Management

Users can now store and manage personal and family health records within the app, including lab reports and hospital discharge summaries. This functionality mirrors the document storage system of Digilocker, providing a centralized repository for medical history. The app supports multiple family members, enabling comprehensive health tracking for dependents.

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Integration

The updated Aarogya Setu offers seamless access to Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) services. Users can create an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), manage health records, and register with hospitals directly through the app. This integration aligns with the government's broader digital health ecosystem, facilitating interoperability across healthcare providers.

Health Monitoring and Wearable Syncing

New health monitoring features include integrated vitals tracking, personalized reminders, and goal tracking. The app can sync with wearable devices to monitor metrics such as steps, heart rate, and glucose levels. This allows users to track their fitness and health trends over time, receiving alerts for abnormal readings.

Insurance and Healthcare Access Features

The app now includes a PM-JAY wallet for tracking healthcare coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. It also supports CAPF family health coverage for central armed police forces, private insurance linking, and real-time blood unit availability through the e-RaktKosh platform. These additions aim to provide a comprehensive healthcare management tool for users.
