The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bibinagar, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, has launched a community radio station at 89.6 FM to enhance public health outreach. This initiative marks a significant milestone as it is the first AIIMS in the country to establish such a facility.

Coverage and Programming

The station will cover an approximate 10-kilometre radius around Bibinagar. Its programming is designed to include a wide range of content, such as health awareness campaigns, disease prevention messages, expert talks, and community updates. The primary focus is on promoting preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and healthy lifestyle practices among the general public.

Interactive Features

Officials have announced that the station will introduce interactive programmes like 'Dial a Doctor', enabling listeners to directly engage with medical professionals and receive guidance on health concerns. A S Subathra, chairperson of the Community Radio Station Operational Committee, noted that such initiatives will help bridge the gap between healthcare providers and the community.
