Nagpur: Air India Express cancelled its Bengaluru-Nagpur flight on Tuesday, just hours before its scheduled take-off at 7:30 pm. The aircraft was expected to arrive in Nagpur at 9 pm and then return to Bengaluru. The airline cited 'technical reasons' for the sudden cancellation. Passengers received messages about the cancellation around 3:30 pm, leaving many inconvenienced.
Frequency reduction due to ATF crisis
The cancellation comes amid a broader reduction in flight frequencies to several destinations, including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Indore, Goa, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, due to the ongoing aviation turbine fuel (ATF) crisis. Air India Express had only recently begun operations from Nagpur airport, which is set to be taken over by GMR for brownfield expansion.
