AKTU Allows Dual Degree Programmes from 2026-27

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has announced that it will allow its undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students to pursue another degree programme simultaneously, with one as a regular course and the other in online or distance learning mode, under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from the academic session 2026-27.

Decision Aligns with UGC Directives

The decision has been taken as per University Grants Commission (UGC) directives issued under the NEP to boost employability and multidisciplinary skills, said AKTU Dean UG Anurag Tripathi. University officials stated that the dual degree programme will promote blending in different fields such as science with humanities or commerce with technology. It has been designed to increase skill sets and provide flexibility for students to explore different career paths simultaneously.

Key Benefits Highlighted by Vice-Chancellor

AKTU Vice-Chancellor JP Pandey said, “The initiative boosts employability, saves time, encourages interdisciplinary learning and offers flexibility to combine diverse fields like science with management or arts with vocational courses.” The new policy is expected to enable students to gain expertise in multiple domains without extending their overall study duration.
