Silchar: Assam University, Silchar, has officially entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Surindra Rajabhat University in Thailand to foster joint research initiatives, facilitate faculty and student exchanges, and enhance broader academic cooperation between the two institutions.
Agreement Signed at International Conference
The agreement was formalized on the sidelines of an international conference titled "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology: Crisis Management and Security Enhancement for Border Communities," organized by the Thai university. This conference served as a platform for academicians, researchers, policymakers, and experts from 18 universities across multiple countries to deliberate on critical issues.
Representing Assam University at the event were Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant and Associate Professor Deepjyoti Choudhury from the Department of Business Administration.
Keynote Address on AI and Border Security
During the plenary session, Prof. Pant delivered a speech emphasizing the pivotal role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in managing crises and securing borders. He brought attention to various challenges, including geographical isolation, cross-border crimes, migration-related risks, administrative hurdles, and digital security threats. Citing examples from the India-Bangladesh and Thailand-Myanmar borders, as well as European border management systems, he highlighted the increasing relevance of AI-driven predictive analytics and digital surveillance tools in bolstering security and crisis response mechanisms.
Technical Session on Digital Era Conflicts
In a separate technical session, Deepjyoti Choudhury addressed the topic of war and crisis management in the digital age. His discussion focused on emerging threats such as cybercrime, data breaches, disinformation campaigns, AI-generated misleading content, and technology-driven global conflicts. He underscored the critical need for enhanced cybersecurity awareness, ethical technology usage, and stronger international collaboration to counter these challenges.

University officials have expressed that this partnership is anticipated to facilitate international academic programs, collaborative research projects, and cultural exchanges. It will also provide students and faculty members with greater global exposure, thereby enriching their educational experiences.
