Bamu Mandates e-KYC for Staff Salaries, Warns of Withholding

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) has issued a directive requiring all teaching and non-teaching staff to complete the e-KYC process for their bank accounts. The university has warned that failure to comply will result in withholding of monthly salaries.

The university has also mandated that staff ensure no discrepancies exist in their personal and account details across official records. This includes alignment between the university portal and the National Pension Scheme (NPS) database, as well as linking salary accounts with Aadhaar.

"If there is a difference in the name in the official portal and the NPS system, staffers should submit an application in the appropriate form along with the necessary documents," Bamu authorities stated. The directive is part of efforts to streamline payroll processing and ensure accuracy in financial records.

Statewide Strike Announced

Meanwhile, discontent is brewing among university and college employees across Maharashtra. The Maharashtra State University and College Employees' Joint Action Committee has announced a statewide strike from May 14 to press for pending demands.

"We have decided to adopt an aggressive stance to draw the government's attention to the pending demands of non-teaching staff across the state's non-agricultural universities and their affiliated colleges. A statewide agitation commencing from May 14 is planned," said Kailas Pathrikar, state working president of the committee.

The strike is expected to affect operations at universities and colleges across Maharashtra if demands are not addressed. Employees are seeking resolution on issues related to salary revisions, pension benefits, and other service conditions.

Bamu's e-KYC mandate adds to the ongoing tensions, as staff must comply with the new requirement while also preparing for potential strike action. The university has urged all employees to complete the process promptly to avoid salary disruptions.
