Finding services and facilities at Banaras Railway Station has become as easy as using Google Maps, according to NER Divisional Railway Manager (Varanasi) Ashish Jain. On Saturday, he launched an innovative app that guides passengers and visitors to toilets, ramps, escalators, lifts, and all other amenities available at the station.
Introducing 'Margdarshak'
The senior divisional commercial manager, Sekh Rahman, explained that the advanced facility has been named 'Margdarshak'. This system brings a new level of convenience and comfort for passengers at Banaras Railway Station.
Features of the LED Touch-Screen Kiosk
Installed at the main entry near Platform 8, this LED touch-screen kiosk is far more than a digital station map. It offers a live interactive map of the entire station along with a 360-degree virtual station tour, enabling passengers to explore and understand the station layout with ease.
- Instant Facility Locator: Passengers can instantly locate essential facilities such as toilets, water booths, ticket counters, lounges, retiring rooms, and dormitories.
- Smart Navigation: The system provides smart navigation paths to selected locations, making movement inside the station smooth and hassle-free.
- QR Code Integration: By scanning the QR code, passengers can continue navigating on their mobile phones, similar to using Google Maps.
- Divyang-Friendly Routes: The system includes routes designed for persons with disabilities, featuring audio-visual guidance.
- Safety Features: Smart warning alerts near railway tracks enhance passenger safety.
- Digital Help Desk: A Digital Help Desk is available for wheelchair support and other passenger assistance requests.
This initiative marks a smart step towards a safer, easier, and more passenger-friendly experience at Banaras Railway Station.
