Announced on Monday, December 23, 2024, this initiative is timed to enhance security measures as the New Year approaches. The core feature of this integration allows both riders and drivers to seek emergency assistance without leaving the Ola or Uber app. With a few taps, users can now share vital information directly with the police's 112 emergency response system.

The data shared includes real-time GPS location, ongoing trip details, and user contact information. This seamless flow of critical data is designed to eliminate communication delays and provide first responders with accurate situational awareness the moment an emergency call is placed.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, emphasized that this technological upgrade will facilitate much quicker police action than traditional emergency reporting methods. He stated that the initiative represents a major step forward in using public-private technology partnerships to create safer urban mobility ecosystems and improve overall public safety infrastructure.

"By integrating our in-app emergency assistance directly with the Bangalore City Police, we're enabling faster access to critical information when it matters most," Nair explained. A similar commitment is understood to be in place from Ola, aligning both aggregators with the police's safety objectives.
