Technology Partnership

BSNL collaborates with Viasat, using geostationary L-band satellites orbiting over 36,000 km above Earth to provide the Direct-to-Device (D2D) service. This technology enables emergency communication even when ground infrastructure is destroyed.

Disaster Resilience

The D2D service is crucial for disaster resilience, allowing rescue and relief operations to coordinate effectively during cyclones, earthquakes, or floods. According to BSNL, the satellite phone ensures connectivity where traditional mobile networks are unavailable.
