'From India to the World'
Canon specifically highlighted the importance of India and its growing creator community. According to Tiger Ishii, Managing Executive Officer at Canon and President of Canon Marketing Asia, India is one of the most strategic markets worldwide, standing at the forefront of a powerful storytelling evolution. "From weddings, cinematography, and regional cinema to digital-first content and independent productions, creators today demand tools that deliver cinematic excellence, mobility, and workflow agility without compromise," he said. Toshiaki Nomura, President and CEO of Canon India, added: "With the launch of the EOS R6 V camera and RF 20-50 F4L IS USM lens, we are strengthening Canon's video-focused ecosystem in India with a future-ready solution built for modern filmmaking and creator-led storytelling."
EOS R6 V: Made for Filmmakers
The Canon EOS R6 V has been heavily optimized for video and takes cues from the EOS R6 Mark III. It features a 32.5MP full-frame sensor capable of 7K Open Gate recording, which allows creators to record using the entire sensor area. This makes it easier to crop footage into both horizontal and vertical formats without losing image quality. One of the key highlights is the inclusion of a built-in cooling fan that addresses the common overheating issue in modern mirrorless cameras. Canon claims the fan allows recording times up to three times longer than its predecessors. The camera also includes built-in optical image stabilization to cancel out vibrations caused by the fan movement. The user interface automatically rotates when shooting vertically, catering to the "Reels and Shorts" era, and it features a dedicated vertical tripod socket.
Canon's First Professional Power Zoom Lens
Pairing with the new body is the RF 20-50 F4L IS USM, Canon's first-ever professional-grade L-series lens with a built-in Power Zoom, designed for smooth, cinematic transitions. Users can control the zoom via a ring on the lens or a lever on the camera body, with 15 adjustable speed levels. The lens barrel does not change length while zooming, addressing camera balance shift issues and allowing it to be used on gimbals or complex rigs.
