CBSE Opens Revaluation Portal After Delays, Cites Cyber Attacks

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finally launched the revaluation portal for Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, following several postponements. The board has cited cyber attacks as the primary reason for the delays in opening the portal.

Portal Now Accessible for Students

Students who appeared for the CBSE board exams can now apply for revaluation of their answer sheets through the official CBSE website. The portal, which was initially scheduled to open earlier, faced technical glitches and security threats, leading to repeated delays.

In a statement, CBSE officials explained that the portal was targeted by multiple cyber attacks, which forced the board to postpone the launch until adequate security measures could be implemented. The board assured students that the system is now secure and fully functional.

How to Apply for Revaluation

To apply for revaluation, students need to visit the CBSE official website and follow these steps:

  • Log in using their credentials, including roll number and date of birth.
  • Select the subjects for which they want revaluation.
  • Pay the required fee online.
  • Submit the application and keep a printout for future reference.

The revaluation process involves rechecking the answer sheets for any errors in marking or totalling. Students can apply for revaluation in up to five subjects. The fee per subject is set at Rs. 500.

CBSE's Response to Cyber Threats

CBSE has faced increasing cyber threats in recent years, including hacking attempts and data breaches. The board has been working to strengthen its cybersecurity infrastructure to protect sensitive student data. The delays in opening the revaluation portal were a precautionary measure to ensure that student information remains secure.

Officials have urged students to remain patient and complete their applications within the stipulated deadline. The last date to apply for revaluation is expected to be announced shortly on the official website.

Students who are dissatisfied with their results can also apply for verification of marks or obtain photocopies of their answer sheets through separate processes. However, revaluation is the most common method for seeking a review of marks.

The CBSE board exams for Class 10 and 12 were conducted earlier this year, and results were declared in May. The revaluation portal is a crucial facility for students who believe their performance was not accurately assessed.
