The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come under fire for its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, with students alleging serious discrepancies in scanned answer sheets and evaluation errors. The system, designed to streamline the evaluation process, has instead sparked widespread backlash due to technical glitches and alleged manipulation of answer sheets.
Answer Sheet Mismatches Spark Outrage
Students have reported that the scanned copies of their answer sheets uploaded by CBSE do not match their original handwriting or the answers they attempted. Some students have even claimed that entire pages of their answer sheets were replaced with different content. These allegations have raised concerns about the integrity of the OSM system and the accuracy of the evaluation process.
Viral Complaints on Social Media
The issue gained traction after social media posts, particularly from a student named Vedant Shrivastava, highlighted the discrepancies. His post went viral, prompting other students to come forward with similar complaints. The widespread nature of these reports has led to growing demands for a thorough investigation into the OSM system's implementation.
Technical Glitches Add to Frustration
In addition to the answer sheet mismatches, students have reported several technical issues with the OSM system. Many have complained about not receiving scanned copies of their answer sheets despite making the required payments. Others have faced inaccessible portals and delays in accessing their results. These glitches have exacerbated the frustration among students, who are already anxious about their examination outcomes.
Government Intervention
In response to the mounting complaints, the Ministry of Education has stepped in to address the technical issues. The ministry has roped in experts from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and banks to resolve problems related to portal stability, payment gateways, and authentication systems. The intervention aims to restore confidence in the OSM system and ensure that evaluations are conducted fairly and accurately.
The CBSE has yet to issue an official statement addressing the specific allegations of answer sheet mismatches. However, the board is expected to work closely with the appointed experts to rectify the technical flaws and prevent further incidents.
