Mangaluru: Police arrested a degree college student and seized approximately 1 kg of hydro ganja, valued at around Rs 35 lakh, during an operation on Mulki Railway Station Road on Monday. The accused is a final-year BCA student at a college in Kundapur.
Details of the Seizure
Along with the contraband, a mobile phone and other materials allegedly used in the offence were also seized. Police said the accused had allegedly smuggled the ganja from Chennai. A case has been registered at Mulki police station under sections 8(c) and 20(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Joint Operation
The operation was carried out jointly by the Panambur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) team and the Mulki police team. The police have not disclosed the identity of the accused but confirmed that she is a female student.
Previous Cases
Police revealed that the accused had previous cases registered against her in Kavoor and at Bengaluru International Airport Customs. The investigation is ongoing to determine the source and distribution network of the drugs.
The arrest highlights the growing concern over drug trafficking in the region, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to curb the menace.
