Visakhapatnam: Dr BS Chakravarthi, professor and head of the paediatrics department at Andhra Medical College/King George Hospital, launched five free child health apps on Saturday. These apps are designed to assist parents, ASHA workers, and health volunteers with child vaccination schedules, growth tracking, nutrition guidance, developmental milestones, autism screening, and basic care during illness.
App Launch Details
The apps were launched by AMC principal Dr Sandhya Devi and KGH superintendent Dr I Vani. A notable feature is that the apps can be opened directly on any smartphone without requiring a download.
The Five Apps
- VacciTrack: For child vaccination schedules.
- GrowRight: For tracking the growth of children aged 0 to 5 years.
- TinySteps: For child development and autism screening.
- NutriChild Pro: For nutrition guidance and Andhra diet plans.
- SickChildGuide: For information on fever care, ORS, danger signs, and home care.
Purpose and Clarification
Dr Chakravarthi stated that his aim was to make parents feel supported when their children fall sick, especially during emergencies at night. He clarified that the apps are only for awareness and basic guidance, and parents should always consult a qualified paediatrician for medical advice and treatment decisions.
