GSHSEB Results: 3.99 Lakh Pass, GCAS Registration from May 7

Ahmedabad: A total of 3,99,526 students have successfully cleared the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) Class 12 examination for the general stream. With this milestone achieved, attention now turns to the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS), which will open registration from May 7 to May 28.

Admission Timeline and Seat Availability

The first round of admissions under GCAS is expected to take place between June 2 and June 6. While over 44,000 students passed in Ahmedabad city (24,482) and rural areas (20,301) alone, university officials have indicated that a seat crunch is unlikely. Last year, Gujarat University witnessed more than 14,000 of its 65,797 seats remaining vacant across arts, commerce, and professional streams, including arts, commerce, science, BCA, BBA, law, and integrated courses. This trend is expected to persist despite the high volume of successful candidates this year.

Competition for Reputed Colleges

However, competition is likely to remain intense for reputed colleges. Private universities have already begun their admission processes immediately after the results were declared, attracting a portion of students early. Officials noted that the final scenario would depend on the admission procedure announced under GCAS. Last year's extended rounds led many students to opt for private institutions, resulting in a large number of vacant seats in government colleges.
