Gujarat ATS Seizes 118 Kg Cocaine Worth ₹1,000 Crore

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), in coordination with the Indian Coast Guard, has seized 118 kilograms of cocaine valued at approximately ₹1,000 crore from the Arabian Sea near the Kutch coast. The contraband was allegedly smuggled from Brazil and intended for foreign nationals residing in Delhi.

Details of the Operation

The operation led to the arrest of one individual, while another suspect managed to escape by jumping into the sea. Subsequently, two more suspects were detained in Delhi. Officials also recovered a satellite communication device from the vessel, which is expected to provide crucial leads in tracing the international trafficking network and the smuggling route used.

Significance of the Seizure

This massive drug haul underscores the persistent efforts of Indian law enforcement agencies to curb maritime drug trafficking. The recovery of the satellite device could help dismantle the broader syndicate involved in smuggling narcotics into the country.
