Ahmedabad: As part of the National Technology Day celebrations, the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GujCOST) has initiated a large-scale training programme for 10,000 teachers across the state. The initiative aims to equip educators with knowledge of emerging technologies and innovative teaching methodologies.

Significance of National Technology Day

National Technology Day is celebrated annually on May 11 to commemorate India's technological achievements, particularly the successful nuclear test conducted at Pokhran in 1998. This year's theme was 'Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth,' emphasizing the role of technology in fostering equitable development.

Objectives of the Teacher Training Programme

Dr Narottam Sahoo, advisor to GujCOST, stated, 'GujCOST's large-scale Teacher Training Programme aims to prepare educators for the rapidly evolving world of science, emerging technologies and innovative pedagogies. It is also to ensure that they impart education to the next-generation conversant with new technologies.' The programme focuses on building scientific thinking, innovation-driven education, and hands-on learning methodologies.
