Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police have taken suo motu action against a 19-year-old delivery executive for performing hazardous stunts on his scooter and sharing the videos on social media platforms, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Details of the Case
The accused, identified as Md Shadab, a resident of Devarkonda Basti in Road No. 5, Banjara Hills, was booked under Section 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act on Monday. The case was registered after Constable Y. B. Prasad of the Banjara Hills police station noticed the viral reels on Instagram.
Nature of the Offense
The videos showed Shadab performing dangerous stunts on roads near KBR National Park, Shameerpet, and other locations in Hyderabad. The constable's complaint stated that the rider was driving in a rash and negligent manner, posing a threat to public safety and endangering the lives of commuters and pedestrians.
Based on the footage, police traced the scooter using its registration number. Investigations revealed that Shadab, a school dropout working as a delivery executive, did not possess a valid driving license. The scooter, registered in his mother's name, was seized by the authorities.
Legal Consequences
Inspector S. Suhasan of Banjara Hills police stated that Shadab's mother may also face legal action for permitting an unlicensed individual to use the vehicle. The police have warned that such reckless behavior will not be tolerated and urged citizens to adhere to traffic rules.
This incident highlights the growing concern over dangerous stunts being performed and shared on social media, prompting law enforcement to take strict action to deter others from similar acts.
