A 16-year-old youth from Chudi Bazar in Goshamahal, Hyderabad, played a crucial role in exposing an LPG agency's alleged gas pilferage. Based on a complaint filed by the teenager's family, the Goshamahal police arrested five individuals involved in the racket. Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar felicitated the father-son duo for their vigilance and efforts.
Discovery of the Pilferage
Last month, Ashok Tiwari booked a gas refill from Siddartha Enterprises. Upon delivery, his son Naman Tiwari noticed that the cylinder felt lighter than usual. This was the second time he observed such a discrepancy. Naman brought the issue to his father's attention. When Ashok verified the weight, he found the cylinder weighed only 28 kg instead of the standard 30 kg.
Confrontation and Investigation
When Ashok and Naman visited the gas agency to seek clarification, the staff allegedly behaved rudely instead of providing an explanation. Undeterred, the duo launched their own investigation. They discovered that the agency staff were illegally siphoning gas from domestic cylinders and transferring it to smaller cylinders. Armed with this evidence, they approached the police.
Police Action and Arrests
The police registered a case and arrested five agency employees: Sai Kumar, Vineeth Kumar, Pusa Ganesh, Praveen Kumar, and Amit Kumar. Authorities seized two commercial cylinders, seven domestic cylinders, 12 small cylinders, and refilling equipment from their possession. Goshamahal Inspector B Shravan Kumar stated that the manager and other management members are yet to be arrested. He further revealed that the pilferage was carried out using delivery boys who transported cylinders in autorickshaws within the Goshamahal area.
