IIT-Delhi and NatWest Launch FinTech Frontier Program to Boost Banking Innovation
IIT-Delhi, NatWest Launch FinTech Frontier Program

The NatWest Group has partnered with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-Delhi) to launch the NatWest FinTech Frontier Program (NFFP), aimed at accelerating innovation in the banking sector. The initiative, launched on July 1, 2026, at IIT-Delhi, brings together researchers, startups, and industry experts to develop cutting-edge solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, digital banking, and quantum technologies.

Program Structure and Tracks

The NFFP features two distinct tracks. The Research Translation Track supports IIT faculty members and research groups working on problem-led research using NatWest Group's real-world data. The Startup Innovation Track is designed for mature startups with market-ready products and paying customers. Both tracks offer paid pilot opportunities with NatWest Group, with the potential to develop deployable intellectual property, patents, and commercial pathways into the UK banking sector.

Objectives and Impact

The program aims to create a direct link between IIT-Delhi's research ecosystem and NatWest Group's enterprise banking operations, enabling promising technologies to be tested and piloted for the UK banking market. According to Ruchika Panesar, CIO of NatWest Group and country head for India, "The future of banking will be built through ecosystems which bring academia, startups and enterprises together to solve real-world challenges. Through the NatWest FinTech Frontier Program, we are combining IIT-Delhi’s research excellence, startup ingenuity and NatWest Group’s enterprise expertise to accelerate innovation in areas that will define the next era of financial services."
