IIT Madras has officially released the Business Rules (Information Brochure) for admissions to the 2026–27 academic year. This document outlines the entry routes for undergraduate programmes, including B.S., B.Tech, and Dual Degree courses. The admissions framework introduces several alternative pathways: Fine Arts and Culture Excellence (FACE), Science Olympiad Excellence (SCOPE), and Olympiad Admission Mode (OAM) specifically for the B.S. Mathematics programme.
Registration and Application Process
Registration for the admission process will commence on May 6, 2026, through the official portals designated for each admission mode. The institute has provided detailed eligibility norms, application guidelines, and programme structures for candidates seeking entry through these excellence-based routes alongside standard academic criteria.
Admission Modes Under FACE, SCOPE, and OAM
The FACE mode is designed for candidates who have demonstrated exceptional talent in fine arts and culture. SCOPE targets students with notable achievements in national and international science Olympiads. The OAM route is exclusively for the B.S. (Mathematics) programme, offering a structured pathway into advanced mathematical training.
Eligibility Criteria Aligned with JEE Advanced Framework
Eligibility conditions for all three modes remain aligned with the JEE (Advanced) requirements for the respective academic year. Candidates must not have been admitted to any IIT in previous years. Additionally, SCOPE applicants must have participated in recognized Olympiad training camps, such as IMOTC, OCSC, or IOITC, within the past four years.
FACE Admission Points System and Seat Allocation
For FACE admission, candidates must qualify in JEE (Advanced) 2025 and possess recognition in at least one category of national or international level achievement in fine arts and culture. The evaluation follows a points system: once-in-a-lifetime recognition awards 100 points, Category A 75 points, and Category B 50 points. Each programme offers two seats: one gender-neutral and one female-only.
Science Olympiad Excellence Participation Requirements
SCOPE eligibility includes participation in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Informatics Olympiad training camps conducted by HBCSE or IARCS. Participating institutes under SCOPE include IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Mandi. Seat allocation is determined based on department-wise programmes and Olympiad preferences.
B.S. Mathematics Under OAM Programme Structure
The B.S. (Mathematics) programme under OAM is a four-year undergraduate course with an option to extend into a dual B.S.-M.S. degree. It combines core mathematical training with electives in information technology, finance, actuarial science, and data analytics. Students may also pursue humanities electives and minors, supporting pathways into research, industry roles, and higher studies.
