The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna conducted a Virtual Open House on Friday for candidates who qualified in JEE Advanced 2026 and their parents, drawing participation from across the nation. The event aimed to familiarize prospective students with the institute's academic offerings, research ecosystem, entrepreneurial initiatives, placement records, hostel amenities, and admission procedures.
Welcome and Overview
Welcoming attendees, IIT Patna Director T N Singh congratulated the successful candidates and wished them well for their future. He emphasized the institute's growing reputation in academics and research, encouraging students to consider IIT Patna for higher education. Dean (Administration) A K Thakur provided an overview of the academic and administrative framework, noting that IIT Patna will offer 817 seats through JEE Advanced for the 2026-27 academic session.
Academic Programs
According to Thakur, the institute offers 12 four-year BTech/BSc programs, eight BTech-MTech dual-degree programs, and 12 BTech/BSc-MBA dual-degree programs, providing multiple academic pathways for students. Dean (Undergraduate Programs) Sushant Kumar explained the curriculum structure and academic opportunities available to undergraduate students, while Dean (Postgraduate Programs) Subrata Hait outlined the advantages of the dual-degree programs.
Campus Life and Facilities
Gymkhana President Arvind Jha and Vice-President Miraj Kulkarni shared insights into hostel life, student clubs, sports activities, and technical and cultural festivals, giving participants a glimpse of campus life. Rishabh Singh and Kripa Shankar Singh highlighted placement and internship opportunities across disciplines. Rahul Mishra briefed participants on the institute's IT infrastructure and facilities at the Computer Centre.
Departmental Interactions
Heads of various academic departments also interacted with participants, explaining opportunities available in their respective fields. The program concluded with an interactive session where faculty members and senior officials answered questions from students and parents on admissions, academics, placements, and campus facilities.
