India offers more opportunities for young researchers, innovators

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on Thursday stated that India today provides more opportunities than ever before for young researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs. Speaking after inaugurating new facilities at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) campus, he emphasized the importance of a shift in mindset to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration.

New Facilities at IIT Gandhinagar

The newly inaugurated facilities include the Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) and the Centre for AI-Driven Innovation. Additionally, three interdisciplinary research clusters were launched: the Advanced Materials Research Cluster (AMRC), the Energy Research Cluster (ERC), and the Healthcare & MedTech Research Cluster (HMRC). These centers aim to foster an environment where researchers, students, and innovators can collaborate to address complex challenges and develop societal solutions.

Supportive Ecosystem for Startups

Dr. Singh highlighted that the government is focused on building a supportive ecosystem that encourages research, strengthens startups, and helps convert ideas into impactful solutions. He noted that Gujarat already possesses a strong ecosystem for innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship, urging young innovators to make the most of it.

Professor Rajat Moona, Director of IIT-Gn, expressed optimism about the new facilities, stating, "With these centres, we aim to create an environment where researchers, students, and innovators can work together to address complex challenges and develop solutions that benefit society."

The minister's remarks underscore the government's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth, leveraging technology and resources to drive meaningful change.
