BENGALURU: Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Chennai were evacuated on Tuesday after smoke was detected in the aircraft while it was taxiing for departure at Kempegowda International Airport.
According to an IndiGo spokesperson, the incident involved flight 6E 6017, which was scheduled to operate from Bengaluru to Chennai. The airline stated that while the aircraft was taxiing out to the runway for departure, smoke was noticed inside the cabin. In the interest of passenger and crew safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out, and all relevant authorities were informed promptly.
The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe and have been shifted back to the terminal, where airline staff are providing assistance. IndiGo further stated that an alternate aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight, which is expected to depart shortly. Refreshments were also being served to passengers during the delay.
