The Dewas excise department has allegedly dismantled an illicit liquor home service racket that operated entirely through mobile phones. During the operation, officials seized 84 bulk litres of illegal liquor valued at Rs 79,000 and apprehended one individual.
Raid and Arrest
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising the excise department and local police conducted a raid at the residence of Amit Rathore in Jaiprakash Nagar. Upon searching the premises, authorities recovered a significant cache of illicit liquor and arrested Rathore on the spot.
Modus Operandi
According to police, the accused utilized mobile phones to take orders from customers. Once a booking was confirmed, the liquor was delivered either to predetermined locations or directly to the customers' doorsteps, ensuring a seamless and discreet service.
Assistant Excise Commissioner Manish Khare stated, "A case was registered against the accused under the Excise Act, 1915."
This operation highlights the innovative methods used by illegal liquor dealers to evade law enforcement. The excise department continues to monitor such activities and urges the public to report any suspicious behavior.
