Jeff Bezos is discreetly putting his $500 million superyacht, Koru, on the market because of its immense size, according to Page Six. The 417-foot vessel is one of the largest sailing yachts globally and includes a wooden sculpture modeled after his then-girlfriend, now-wife, Lauren Sanchez, on its prow.
Support Ship and Operating Costs
The superyacht has a $75 million support ship named Abeona, though it is unclear if that vessel is also part of the sale. Operating both ships together costs approximately $30 million per year.
Symbolism of Koru
Koru means "loop" or "coil" in Māori, inspired by the spiral shape of an unfurling silver fern frond, resembling a necklace. Bezos has previously noted on Instagram that Koru symbolizes new beginnings, a sentiment special to the couple.
Size Comparisons and Mooring Issues
Koru is the second-largest sailing yacht in the world, slightly smaller than David Geffen's Rising Sun, which measures 453 feet. In 2025, Koru was denied mooring in Monaco due to its enormous size. The yacht also could not enter the lagoon near Venice where Bezos and Sanchez were married, prompting the couple to host a separate foam party on board during the festivities.
History of Troubles
Built in the Netherlands, Koru has faced several challenges. In 2022, plans to dismantle the historic 95-year-old De Hef bridge to allow the yacht to pass were abandoned after local protests; instead, the masts were removed. In 2023, the New York Times reported that Koru was too large to dock at the Florida Everglades, forcing it to anchor near less glamorous oil tankers and container ships.
Features and Celebrity Connections
The superyacht boasts three towering masts and multiple decks, including one with a pool. Despite its size, Koru has been central to the couple's world tour, hosting celebrity guests such as Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, and Usher.
